Full time, 37 hours per week (1.0 FTE), Fixed Term until March 2027

Lecturer, Band 6 £43,482 to £48,823 per annum

Senior Lecturer, Band 7 £50,253 to £58,226 per annum

The University of Suffolk is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Senior Lecturer in Computing to join our growing Technology and Engineering subject area. The appointment level will be determined by the successful candidate’s experience, education, and teaching experience.

About the role

You will contribute to the delivery and development of our undergraduate and postgraduate Computing provision, which includes pathways in areas such as cyber security, software development, web and mobile technologies, networks, and artificial intelligence. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, student-centred teaching, supporting student achievement, and contributing to scholarly activity, research, or knowledge exchange.

At Senior Lecturer level, the role includes leadership responsibilities such as mentoring colleagues, contributing to academic management, leading curriculum development, and enhancing the School’s external profile through research, partnerships, or professional engagement. The development and delivery of core Computer Science subjects is essential for this role, and in particular experience of developing and/or delivering high quality teaching to Apprentices is highly desirable. Knowledge and experience of the relevant apprenticeship standards are also of particular interest. Please note that this role has a strong focus on learning, teaching and knowledge exchange rather than research.

About you

  • Have current, relevant expertise in Computing or a related discipline
  • Are committed to excellent teaching and student support
  • Have knowledge and/or experience of Apprenticeship standards, course development and delivery
  • Are Fellows (or higher) of AdvanceHE
  • Have Course Leadership experience, although not essential Can contribute to research, scholarship, or professional practice
  • Are enthusiastic about working collaboratively in a developing, ambitious School
  • Have a sustained record of research, scholarship, or professional impact
  • Experience of academic leadership, course development, or mentoring
  • The ability to contribute to strategic initiatives and external engagement
