KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) Associate – J McCann & Co Ltd
Fixed term until May 2028, full time, 40 hours per week (1 FTE)
Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 per annum as well as a £2,000 annual personal development allowance.
About the Business
For over four decades, J McCann & Co Ltd has been a driving force in the UK’s civil and electrical engineering landscape. They deliver exceptional infrastructure solutions for both public and private sectors, from bustling roads and high-speed rail to world-class airports. J McCann & Co Ltd were successful in tendering for Suffolk County Council’s streetlighting services contract in autumn 2023. Suffolk County Council’s extensive street lighting network encompasses 62,000 road lighting assets, including 55,000 columns, 9,000 signs and bollards, and 3,500 associated assets. Additionally, the council is entrusted with maintaining 10,500 assets within parishes in Suffolk and 1,200 assets within parishes in Norfolk.
About the role
As the Associate, the successful candidate will lead a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project between University of Suffolk and J McCann & Co Ltd at their Melton, Suffolk office to develop an operational optimisation app to enhance the performance and efficiency of the Suffolk Streetlighting contract. Through this, the project will also create and embed a fully modern software development team and culture into the business, giving the company the long-term capability to create and maintain software applications to drive strategic growth.

The associate will be at postgraduate level with at least an MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related subject.
