Job Title: Dental Simulation and Learning Instructor
Hours: Part time, 29.6 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
Salary: £37,694 - £42,254 per annum (pro rata), Band 5
About the Post
This role provides comprehensive technical and administrative support to staff and students across a range of teaching, learning, and research activities, primarily within the Dental Hygiene and Therapy team.
The post holder will be responsible for the preparation, organisation, maintenance, and ongoing development of specialist clinical, laboratory, and simulation environments, along with the associated equipment, hardware, software, and digital systems required to support high‑quality teaching and learning.
Key duties include supporting practical classes and skills sessions, issuing and managing equipment, and ensuring that all facilities and resources operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with health and safety requirements. The role also involves overseeing students undertaking practical skills within the clinical setting and supporting the course team during recruitment activities, including participation in interviews.
In addition, the post holder will undertake a range of administrative responsibilities, including ordering and maintaining equipment, managing inventories and registers, and ensuring compliance with mandatory procedures and institutional policies.
This is a varied and hands‑on role, requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with academic, clinical, and professional services colleagues.
About the Team
About You
You will hold a degree and/or a relevant professional qualification in a health‑related or biological science discipline and hold a relevant registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
You will have recent experience working in a relevant healthcare role within a clinical environment, with a good understanding of clinical practices, professional standards, and patient‑focused working. You will be confident supporting practical activities and able to work effectively with staff and students.
